Ankara, Turkey, May 28
The 100th anniversary of the formation of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the establishment of its armed forces was celebrated with the presence of Turkish and Azerbaijani military and civilian authorities by “TÜRKSOY” International Culture Organization in Ankara-Turkey.
Mr. Xazar Ibrahim, the Ambassador of North Azerbaijan in Ankara, said during the ceremony: “This year is the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic which is so important for both Azerbaijan and the Turkish world and Islam”.
100 years have passed since the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic – the first democratic republic – was established in the East.
The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was declared on May 28, 1918, in Tbilisi by the Azerbaijan National Council headed by Mammad Amin Rasulzade.
The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic reached great achievements in the short period of its history. It was the first republic given voting right to the women and securing the equality between men and women.
A great work has been done in the spheres of the national army building, issuing national currency, establishing a national bank, democratization, free elections, international relations and recognition of the independence of Azerbaijan by the international community, securing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, conducting economic reforms and other fields.
It should be noted that South Azerbaijan and all Turks around the worlds are Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in the different part of the world.
