The Growing Crisis of Migration from South Azerbaijan to Persian Regions

Tabriz, South Azerbaijan, June 9

The pattern of displacement of the population of Iran shows that all areas of South Azerbaijan are faced with a population migration crisis.

The Iranian Statistics Center traces the number of “Provincial Immigration” from 2011 to 1395 in the form of an info-graphic.

According to this info graphic, the migration situation in South Azerbaijan is critical. South Azerbaijani citizens move to Persian areas which is located in the central part of Iran geography. This is a systematic migration that  forced by the regime.

The Iranian Statistics Center, around 5 million people in Iran have been internally displaced. Most of the migrants are from South Azerbaijan in the last five years.

Among the provinces of South Azerbaijan, Hamadan province is at the head of the emigrant. Following Hamadan, Ardabil, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan and Zanjan province are faced with a population migration crisis respectively.

It should be noted that the migration of South Azerbaijan is due to a weak economic and lack of the welfare state in the South Azerbaijan region.
