There are many factors that make some countries better study abroad destinations than others for Iranian students. The cost of university, living expenses, the local language, ranking of the university, visa access and the possibility of job opportunities and immigration are some considerations for Iranian students when choosing their study abroad destination.
According to the faculty member of the Institute for Demographic Studies and the Ministry of Science, Dr. BahramSalavati stated that Turkey after the United States is the second destination for Iranian students to study abroad.
Dr. Bahram Salavati added: “According to UNESCO statistics in 2016, we have twelve thousand and 600 students in the United States. Also, about five thousand Iranian students are in Turkey .”
Being Iran’s neighboring country, Turkey is similar to Iran and South Azerbaijan culture-wise. Also traveling to Turkey doesn’t require a visa for Iranians, studying and living in Turkey is affordable and traveling back to Iran to visit the family is very convenient. These factors make Turkey a good destination for Iranian students specially for South Azerbaijani students. students can take advantage of the sun, ocean and Mediterranean climate.
