UNESCO recognizes Azerbaijan’s dolma as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

At the Twelfth Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Intolerant Cultural Heritage Committee ,”Dolma”food was recorded in the name of Azerbaijan on the World Heritage List.

UNESCO has recognized Azerbaijan’s dolma as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Permanent Delegate of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, Ambassador Anar Karimov tweeted on Dec. 6

“After two years of hard work Dolma has been recognized as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Congratulations Azerbaijan,” he tweeted.

Dolma tradition is a set of knowledge and skills relating to the preparation of the traditional meal ‘dolma’, which takes the form of small fillings (containing meat, onion, rice, peas and spices) wrapped in fresh or pre-cooked leaves or stuffed in fruits and vegetables.

The 12th Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage is taking place in South Korea from December 4th to 9th .

The committee will examine a total of 35 works from different countries for the global listing this year.
