The United States announced the imposition of sanctions against a network of individuals and legal entities involved in a large-scale scheme for counterfeiting currency to support the destabilizing activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
This network used fraudulent measures to circumvent European export control restrictions and acquired modern equipment and materials to print counterfeit Yemeni banknotes that potentially cost hundreds of millions of dollars for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Quds Force,” the Office of Control foreign assets of the US Treasury.
Recall, on October 13, US President Donald Trump unveiled a new US strategy against Iran, in which he expressed his intention to introduce new sanctions against Tehran and criticized the way Iran adheres to the provisions of the nuclear agreement.
Trump also announced the imposition of US sanctions against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, that he called supporters of international terror.
