TURKISH MILITARY SAYS 1829 ‘TERRORISTS’ NEUTRALIZED IN OPERATION OLIVE BRANCH

Ankara,Turkey,Feb 22

The Turkish Armed Forces’ General Staff said on February 22 that at least 1,829 ‘terrorists’ have been ‘neutralized’ since the start of Operation Olive Branch in the northwestern Syrian area of Afrin. The Turkish military added that its forces had ‘neutralized’ 49 ‘terrorists’ overnight.

Ankara says that its operation in the Afrin area is aimed against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and ISIS while it’s clear for any neutral observer that there is no settlements controlled by ISIS in Afrin.

Turkey also says that the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and their political wing the Democratic Union Party (PYD), which control Afrin, are a local branch of the PKK.

It should be noted that the Turkish army launched Operation with name of Olive Branch on January 20, 2018 to eliminate PKK /YPG / PYD and ISIL terrorists groups in the Afrin area northwest of Syria.
