Urmia Mp Strongly Condemns for Distortion of the Turkish Identity in Children Textbooks

Tabriz,South Azerbaijan,Jan 14

Following the distortion of the South Azerbaijan Turkish identity in Iranian textbooks, Rohullah Hazratpour, the MP of Urmia city has shown their protest against the Iran education system.

Mr. Hazratpour sent objection letter to the Minister of Education about the irrelevant picture which published in Iranian student textbooks which specify the living areas of the different ethnics of Iran and western Azerbaijan is shown as a Kurd dominated area. He called for reform of the fake map.

Many social media users have criticized the remove and asked the fake map should be changed in the text books of the schools.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Education Iran Regime in a racist and purposeful act has defined and published Kurdish dresses as national and local clothing for West Azerbaijan province in children’s textbooks.

This is not the first time that the Kurdish minority in western Azerbaijan is represented by the official sources in Iran as the majority.

The main aim of putting such kind of picture is distorting of Turkish identity and showing West Azerbaijan province as the Kurd region in order to attack the Turkish identity. However, the local customs for the provinces of Kermanshah and Kurdistan are empty.

It should be highlighted that more than 80 % of the West Azerbaijan population are Turk and 15% of West Azerbaijan population are Kurdish residents who have come from Iraq or the Kurdish dominated areas of Iran in the past 50 years.

There is a lot of historical evidence to prove the Turkish identity of the region. Despite that fact, Iran regime tries to show West Azerbaijan region as Kurd region.
