Mr. Behrouz Sari the Director of Climatology of Tabriz University expressing that more than 90% of the Lake Urmia has dried up and Confirmed: “There is a meaningful connection between the dust emission of Lake and Air Pollution of Azerbaijan regions.”
Mr. Behrouz Sari added that according to recent studies and scientific documentation, the dust emission of Lake Urmia not only affects South Azerbaijan also it becomes an international crisis that put neighboring countries in a big environmental risk.
The Dust enters the upper layers of the atmosphere and through the troposphere air channel, it transports to neighboring provinces and even neighboring countries and distant lands.
Mr. Sari stated that drying Lake Urmia has affected the Northwest of country’s rainfall rates . According to studies of water and wastewater Company of East Azarbaijan province, the emission of methane gas from the lake has a great impact on the absence of rain clouds.
It’s so interesting that there is no credit for saving Lake Urmia in the budget bill of upcoming year 1397 (2018). However , the restoration of Lake Urmia is a national demand.
