According to the latest census of population and housing, more than 211 villages are at risk of depopulation and abandonment.
Extensive migration from the villages of Ardebil province destroyed 211 villages in this province.
Chairman of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Management and Planning Organization of Ardebil province, said:” Recent Studies show that 211 villages are vacant, If not taken serious measures in this regard, The situation in the province will become worse.”
According to Gunaz Tv (the official media of South Azerbaijan), there are 1,859 villages in the province of Ardebil, which can be said migration is carried out from all villages.
Deputy General Directorate of Rural Affairs and councils governor of Ardebil Mr. Massoud Emami Expressed his concern about the situation of immigration and said:“Immigration has begun not only from villages but also from cities and we see the migration of citizens from small towns and even big cities.”
Director of Urbanism and Architecture of Ardebil province mentioned that in recent years, only two cities in Ardebil and Parsabad have experienced a demographic increase, and in the rest of the city and even villages the population growth is negative.
Deputy Head of Prevention of the Judiciary Crime in Ardebil province, said: “The uninhabited of 211 villages of Ardebil are alarming us. We have forgotten the marginalization that has become a crisis. “
Yusuf Khodadadi the Deputy Head of Prevention of the Judiciary Crime in Ardebil province added that unfortunately, 80% of the crimes are occurring on the margins of the city, and today there are 200,000 marginalized people in Ardebil province which is undeniable .
