Ertugrul Saglam’s views about South Azerbaijan and the Tractor sazi soccer team

Tabriz, South Azerbaijan, May 16

The former coach of the South Azerbaijan football team ‘Tractor-Sazi ’has attended in a Turkish media and talked about South Azerbaijan and the Tractor Sazi soccer team.

He said on Turkish channel  bein sports: “I accepted the tractor team, because of my nationalistic feelings.”

Ertugrul Saglam added that Tractor supporters are all Turk and have an indelible interest in Turkey.

The tractor was in crisis in the Premier League and did not get good results. So the manager of the Tractor club came to me and stated their problems. They asked me to take the team director. They expressed that South Azerbaijani Turks want me.

The former coach of the South Azerbaijan football team ‘ Tractor-Sazi said:”Tabriz is a really beautiful city with a population of about 2.5 million. 99% of the population of Tabriz are Azerbaijani Turks. Tabriz residents speak Turkish and have an indelible interest in Turkey.”

he added:”The total number of Turks in South Azerbaijan and other regain of Iran  is more than 30 million which I  learned this after coming to Tabriz.”

Saglam, 48, was recently voted one of the top 20 most promising coaches by the weekly British football magazine Match.

He has managed seven Turkish clubs since 2004 including Samsunspor and Beşiktaş for which he played as a striker in the past.

In 2006 he won the now defunct Intertoto Cup, with Kayserispor. In 2010, he won the Super Lig with Bursaspor.

Founded in 1970, Tractor Sazi Tabriz is a professional football club in the Iran Gulf Pro League. The club is based in Tabriz-South Azerbaijan.

First place in the Hazfi Cup in the 2013-14 season and third in the Persian Gulf ranking in the 2016-17 season are the highest honors of the Tractor Sazi Tabriz club.
