Ms. Zahra Mohammadi the South Azerbaijani handcraft artist from Miyaneh city was invented a new method of rug (kilim) weaving which is so similar carpet. This type of weaving of the rug is the first and unique in the world. She has removed the grooves existing among rug webs which achieved a coherent structure such as carpet weaving . The strength and quality of products have doubled.
The south Azerbaijani rug will release into the rug industry with the brand name “Gaflankuh”.
Deputy Director of Cultural Heritage of East Azerbaijan announced this news rug to state medias and gave information about this compressed rug which was made by the South Azerbaijani lady Ms. Zahra Mohammadi.
Associate Deputy of East Azerbaijan stated:” If we are looking to introduce our products to international markets, we need to brand the Azerbaijani artistic works. Ms. Zahra Mohammadi’s idea and her product is the starting point for moving and progressing handcraft industry.”
Kilim word comes from Turkish origin, denotes a pileless textile of many uses produced by one of several flat weaving techniques that have a common or closely related heritage. It is usually woven from wool or silk.
South Azerbaijan’s Kilim has different in terms of colors, design and quality compare with the other region’s Kilim, which distinguishable from the design and high quality materials used for its texture.
